Jarabulus (Northern Syria). Turkish tanks enter Northern Syria and capture the city of Jarabulus, previously held by the Islamic State (ISIS, ISIL, Daesh). This operation is intended to reclaim it from the US-backed Kurdish militias and prevent the formation of a contiguous Kurdish zone extending west of the Euphrates River. The operation, called Operation Euphrates Shield, has precisely this stated purpose.
