General McClellan’s 200,000 Union troops land south of Richmond to take the Confederate capital from behind. The Southerners currently have only 90,000 men to oppose them, but the slow pace of the operation and General Lee’s strategic and maneuvering skills allow the Confederates to avoid losing the capital.
