Thomas Alva Edison is in New Orleans, dreaming of boarding a steamship to Brazil. He meets an old sailor returning from Brazil, who waves his skinny hand in his face and says to Al, “There’s no country like the United States for a young man trying to better his lot!” Al changes his mind and returns home to Michigan.
