Documented transit of the comet that would be named Halley’s Comet centuries later. It passes extremely close to our planet: only 5 million kilometers, or 13 times the distance between Earth and the Moon. It has never passed this close before in our history. Its tail is so bright and large that it covers 120 degrees of the night sky, or 240 moons!
