Larry Roberts, project manager for the ARPANET project, submits the Request for Comments (RFC). RFC1 is dated April 7, 1969. The RFC concept pioneers the open-source approach that will characterize the Internet era. Based on the responses to RFC1, host-to-IMP standards will be ready by the end of August 1969.
