Project Highwater: As part of the Apollo-Saturn program, the effect of releasing large quantities of liquid hydrogen and oxygen into the upper atmosphere was tested: the Saturn was launched and explosive charges tore it apart at an altitude of 105 km, 95 tons of water were released and within 5 seconds observers on the ground could clearly see an enormous icy cloud several kilometers in diameter forming at an altitude of 145 km.
