Bologna. Guglielmo Marconi is born. His father, Giuseppe, is a wealthy landowner; his mother, Annie Jameson, is a young and determined Irish woman. The Marconi family is of extremely poor origins, with his grandfather being the first wealthy man. Annie, on the other hand, comes from a family of Jameson whiskey distillers.
