planet with Earth-like characteristics has been discovered outside our solar system, 20.4 light-years away, or 193 trillion kilometers away, in the constellation of Libra. It is likely a rocky planet, on which liquid water could also be found. It has a radius about 50% larger than Earth’s (about 10,000 km) and is the smallest of the 229 discovered outside our solar system. Its distance from its star, Gliese 581, is 14 times smaller than the Earth-Sun distance, and its orbit lasts nearly 13 days.
