The decryption of the Japanese messages allowed the Americans to shoot down Yamamoto’s plane. A heated argument then broke out with the British, who believed the Americans had thus risked revealing their identity. Fortunately for the Americans, the Japanese had also transmitted the information via different channels, and they believed the enemy had intercepted them.
