Moon. On February 9th, the Soviet Lunokhod rover (launched the previous November) survives an eclipse in which the temperature drops from +150°C to -100°C and back to +136°C in 3 hours. On October 4th, 1971, Polonius’s heart fails, his temperature drops, and he dies. He has traveled 11 km. It is the greatest Soviet success on the Moon.
