John Glenn completes the first full orbit for NASA, three orbits in total, on Fellowship 7 (Mercury missions, Atlas rocket); Glenn is one of the Original Seven of the Mercury missions, all Air Force pilots: Malcolm S. Carpenter, Leroy G. Cooper, John H. Glenn Jr., Virgil I. Grissom, Walter M. Schirra Jr., Alan B. Shepard Jr., and Donald K. Slayton.
