The Italian delegation to negotiate war reparations with the British departs for London. It is led by Finance Minister Giuseppe Volpi. The debt amounts to 377 million pounds. On the British side, negotiating, Winston Churchill is present. Before the signing, Churchill says: “The agreement we are about to sign will certainly be criticized in our countries (…) The best proof of the value of an agreement is the fact that it satisfies no one.”
