Milan. That evening, the Piedmontese King Charles Albert decides to ask for an armistice with the Austrian Empire. When he steps out onto the balcony to address the crowd, someone fires a rifle shot at him. It misses him, and the bullet lodges in the ceiling of the room, but it makes a huge impression (shooting a king is not a normal thing…).
