Mongolia. Yesugei, father of Temujin (the future Genghis Khan), is invited to dinner by the leader of the rival clan and is poisoned. Temujin returns to assume leadership of the clan, but his authority is not recognized and the clan falls apart. It falls to the feisty mother to try to rally the remaining loyal members.
