Dmanisi, Georgia, near the border with Armenia. First appearance of Homo erectus, who would later spread to East Asia. Homo erectus would remain a species on this planet for almost 2 million years. A record that Homo sapiens (born only 70,000 years ago) will be very unlikely to beat… Between 5.7 and 1.85 million years ago, however, there is no evidence of the presence of hominids in Europe, who instead continued to evolve in Africa. A skull was also found without teeth. At the time, being toothless meant certain death, unless helped by the community. This means that Homo erectus from Dmanisi was already highly social. The skulls found at Dmanisi also have a clear depression for Broca’s area, used for articulated speech. At the same site (Dmanisi), remains of a wolf (Canis etruscus) were also found. This is the first indication of the possible coexistence of wolf-dogs and humans.
