Gobekli Teple, southeastern Turkey. A band of hunter-gatherers, for obscure cultural reasons, built ten monumental T-shaped structures, ranging from 5 to 30 meters high and weighing 20 tons, with no apparent practical use. They were discovered in 1995 AD.
