The Christian Emperor Theodosius declared Christianity the state religion and banned all other religions, whose rites and traditions did not disappear completely but were partially absorbed by Christianity (December 25th, which is the Christian Christmas, but also the birth of Mithras, the cult of the Virgin Mary which closely resembles the cult of Isis, the rite of baptism and the cult of John the Baptist, etc.).
