The Christian Emperor Theodosius declares Christianity the state religion and bans all other religions, whose rites and traditions do not disappear completely but are partly absorbed by Christianity (December 25th which is the Christian Christmas but also the birth of Mithras, the cult of the Virgin Mary which closely resembles the cult of Isis, the rite of baptism and the cult of John the Baptist, etc.)
