Margaret Geller and John Huchra discover the so-called Great Wall (also known as the Coma Wall or CfA2 Great Wall), the second largest structure in the known universe (the largest being the Sloan Great Wall). It is a wall of galaxies 500 million light-years long, 200 million light-years away, and 300 million light-years thick by 15 million light-years.
