Asteroid 2062 Aten, approximately 1.3 kilometers in size, is discovered in the asteroid belt. It is a NEO (Near Earth Object) that will give its name to an entire class of NEOs: the Aten asteroids, with perihelions well inside Earth’s orbit. If they come close to Earth, they usually do so from within the Solar System. Their aphelion is just outside Earth’s orbit.
