United States. President Nixon creates the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, which will legislate the Clean Air Act (1970, 1977, 1990), the Clean Water Act (1972), the Safe Drinking Water Act (1974), and the Toxic Substances Control Act (1976). These are the “I” (Impose Limits) of CRIB in the Paul Elrich and John Holdren model. The measures will be enormously successful in limiting pollution.
