Murray Gell-Mann and Yuval Ne’eman propose a system for classifying particles based on their charge and level of strangeness. This model is often called “the eightfold way,” recalling the Buddhist Noble Eightfold Path. With this new classification, Murray Gell-Mann and Yuval Ne’eman manage to simplify and organize the plethora of particles that are emerging.
