Electrical Experimenter editor Hugo Gernsback pressured Westinghouse, warning them that Nikola Tesla’s complete lack of money could be embarrassing for the company. Westinghouse reluctantly agreed to put Tesla on the payroll as a “consulting engineer” at $125 a month.
