The modern Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) was founded in 1932 by Abdul Aziz bin Al Saud. The first Saudi kingdom, dating back to 1744, took its name from the founding dynasty, the Saud family, and experienced turbulent times, being ruled by the Ottoman Empire for several centuries.
