Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan dies in India after a long illness. Ramanujan, alone, had independently rediscovered countless mathematical theorems, retracing their history, unfortunately wasting considerable time rediscovering their foundations. In a long letter to Professor Godfrey H. Hardy, he listed his results, but also cited 120 completely unknown theorems.
