William Ramsey discovers the first inert gas: argon, and shouts, “Fuck Argo!” (No, that’s not true… it’s just a quote). This is yet another challenge (soon to be won) for Mendeleev’s table, as it is located immediately to the right of the last element in the table. Ramsay himself will soon discover other noble gases to populate this new column: helium, neon, krypton, and xenon.
