Treaty of Aigun: Russia seizes 300,000 square kilometers of territory north of the Amur and Ussuri rivers, territories long held by China. Manchuria, south of the two rivers, remains Chinese territory. These territories had already been recognized as Chinese in the previous Treaty of Nerchinsk of 1689.
