Russian mathematician Paphnutij Chebyshev proved Bertrand’s Postulate, which had been proposed by Frenchman Joseph Bertrand just seven years earlier: if you take a prime number, say 1009, and keep counting until you reach double the prime number, you are guaranteed to encounter at least one prime number along the way.
