Ireland. A terrible famine strikes the island, killing one million people; another million emigrate, mostly to the United States (Boston and New York) and England (Liverpool). A century and a half later, there will be 80 million Irish descendants worldwide, 35 million of whom are in the United States alone (some of whom have served as President).
