Richard Price, a chaplain and mathematician like his predecessor, the Anglican priest and mathematician Thomas Bayes, gives a lecture to the Royal Society reading a work by Bayes entitled “An Essay on the Resolution of a Problem in the Doctrine of Chance” which made Bayes himself famous.
