Giordano Bruno adopts the Copernican system, admitting the plurality of universes. There is no star that can be said to be at the center because all positions are relative. Our Earth enjoys no exceptional privilege. For all we know, there could be other intelligent life. The various solar systems come and go and are merely temporary phases in the life of a single, infinite living organism, whose soul is the soul of the world. By fusing God and Nature, he thus anticipates Spinoza. Within the Universe, every intelligent being is a conscious and immortal atom, which reflects creation within itself (thus anticipating Leibniz).
