Peace of Lodi. An alliance of the five main states of the Italian peninsula was formed: Naples, the Papal States, Florence, Milan, and Venice, with the declared goal of defending Italy from the Turks. For about forty years, Italy truly enjoyed peace, a rare occurrence for centuries.
