Venice. Direct income taxes are introduced for the first time. This measure (considered exceptional for Venice) was also made necessary by the fall of Constantinople. Taxes were later reduced and regularized starting in 1463, but they still remained a minor contribution to the economic budget of the Republic of Venice.
