Fourth Genoa-Venice War. Genoa represents Venice’s most dangerous rival for dominance of Mediterranean trade. The victor in these contests (the first Genoa-Venice war was 1350–1355) will never be able to prevent its opponent from deploying a fleet equal to or more powerful than the previous one within a year or two. In effect, this contest also ends in a draw, as both maritime powers survive the clash.
