The death of the German Leibniz, another fearsome rival of Newton, was not enough to appease the Englishman, who continued to drag out the dispute with the German for years, until the Third Edition of the Principia, in 1725, in which he also removed the last reference to Leibniz, in a vain attempt to erase him from the history of calculus.
