CVN77 (Carrier Vessel Nuclear) Heorge H.W. Bush is the last Nimitz-class aircraft carrier launched by the US Navy. The next generation (from CVN78 onwards) will be the CVN21 class and will span the entire 21st century, with innovations such as the electromagnetic catapult (essentially a long linear motor) that saves enormous amounts of electrical energy and potable water (24 cubic meters) with each launch, as well as significantly reducing mechanical stress on the aircraft and therefore maintenance hours.
