By the time NASA landed on the Moon, it had already purchased a million integrated circuits for the Apollo missions alone, contributing to the development of the technology and reducing production costs. The first integrated circuits purchased by NASA cost $1,000; by the end of the program, they cost $20; those for the Minuteman II initially cost $50 in 1962, and only $2 in 1968. This would pave the way for a myriad of commercial applications that would revolutionize the world.
