Chuck Yeager makes an excursion to the edge of space aboard his modified F-104A (the episode is mentioned in the film “The Right Stuff”). But the first to make excursions to the edge of space are other F-104 pilots, such as Thompson (April 13, 1959), and X-15 pilots: such as White, Walker, Rushworth. Among the X-15 pilots is also Neil Armstrong, who however does not reach the Karman limit (100 km).
