Physicist Hugh Everett (the creator of the “Many World Interpretation” in Quantum Mechanics), invited to Copenhagen by Niels Bohr, while drinking beer at the Hotel Osterport, writes on the hotel stationery an important refinement of Everett’s algorithm, also known as the Lagrange Multiplier Method; the method simplifies the search for optimal solutions to complex logical problems, ranging from the deployment of nuclear weapons to industrial production times to finding bus routes.
