Eckert and Mauchly, rivals and computer pioneers, jointly founded the Eckert Mauchly Computer Corporation, which would soon become Remington Rand, then Sperry Rand, and finally UNISYS. Among other things, they would also build the UNIVAC, which would predict with 100:1 certainty the election of Eisenhower over Stevenson in the 1952 election. Much to the surprise of the press, especially CBS’s Cronkite.
