Finland. The Continuation War, the third and final Finnish-Soviet conflict of the 20th century, resulted in 500,000 Soviet soldiers killed and 250,000 wounded. The dead included 5,000 Red Army soldiers captured by the Finnish army and returned at the end of the conflict, only to be immediately executed by the Soviets for surrendering.
