Yugoslavia. During Operation Schwarz against the Chetniks, the Germans entered Italian Montenegro and Herzegovina. Thousands of Chetniks were disarmed, and entire units of Communist partisans were also surrounded. On June 22nd in particular, an Enigma decryption system reached Bletchley Park, revealing that 583 Germans and 7,489 Communist partisans were killed in the fighting, with the probability that approximately 4,000 other partisans were killed that same day. Seventeen Chetniks were killed and 4,000 were taken prisoner.
