Manhattan, New York. John Trump, of the New York Police Department, spends two days poring over the papers found in Nikola Tesla’s apartment after his death. He finds nothing of interest. He also decides to examine the locked box Tesla left at the Governor Clinton Hotel, which had never been opened before. The warning left for the box’s custodians was that it would explode unless opened by authorized individuals. John Trump later recalls that it was a beautiful day outside, and that he was inside opening a box that everyone believed would explode when opened… He takes a deep breath and opens it: it contains an old resistor box, the kind used for Wheatstone bridges.
