Stalingrad. The Sixth Army is split in two: the southern section (20 km) with Paulus is now separated from the northern section with Strecker in the tractor factory with the remnants of the XI Army Corps. Since the beginning of Operation Ring, the Germans have lost one hundred thousand men killed, wounded, and prisoners. Orders are given to withhold food supplies from the wounded and sick to preserve them for the fighting.
