Tobruk, Libya. 5:30 a.m. Italian artillery opens fire on the Australians, Scots, South Africans, and Indians besieged in the fortified city. Shrieking Stukas follow soon after, and then Italian sappers from the 31st Battalion intervene. The first to disband are the Indian troops.
