Italian East Africa (AOI). A municipal census is conducted in Addis Ababa. The population is 26,669, of whom 25,147 are Italian and 1,522 are foreigners (mostly Greek and Armenian traders). Another 10,000 Italians will arrive in 1939, and by the start of World War II, there will be nearly 40,000 Italians in the capital.
