At Bletchley Park, young minds, including mathematicians and some women, were recruited to crack Enigma. This was a completely new approach for the time. The presence of Alan Turing among the candidates was a particularly fortunate stroke of luck, as Turing was one of the very few scientists on the planet to have conducted in-depth research in both computing and cryptography.
