John Wesley Hyatt, a billiard ball manufacturer, invented a way to inject celluloid into a mold. They essentially invented injection molding. It wasn’t until World War II, however, that the mass production of plastic objects began. In 1946, James Hendry built the first Screw Injection Molding Machine.
