Two more attempts to establish a transatlantic link between Ireland and Newfoundland. The HMS Agamemnon and the American frigate Niagara attempted again: the first failed immediately, while the second worked for about a month, after which it failed due to excessive voltage passed through the cable in an attempt to strengthen the signal.
