Modena. Duke Francis IV holds the trial of Ciro Menotti, which ends with him being sentenced to death by hanging. Other conspirators (Luigi Adami, Giuseppe Brevini, and Antonio Giacomozzi) are initially sentenced to death, a sentence later commuted to 12 years in prison by Francis IV.
